The paper aims to present the Eni Algeria approach to social projects in area of its own activities (Algeria and Mali), aiming to support a real effective and strong local development. The approach applied is that Eni uses worldwide, following a Company internally adopted best practice on community investments. The approach of some ongoing projects will be presented, as - Mali solar water wells for local population of Timbuktu region; - Support to restoration of Algerian cultural goods (mosaics) and to train of local technicians ("on site restoration techniques training / training on the job"). Some of the main concepts taken in consideration in the projects strategy have been: economic development and local approach (support to a real endogenous development), sustainable human development, promotion of local content in different ways, promotion of private-public partnership, participatory approach, stakeholder management (identification and involvement), promotion of renewable energies and support to protection of national cultural patrimony.
