Albena A. Mateeva, Jeff Mestayer, Zhaohui Yang, Jorge L. Lopez, Peter Wills, James E. Roy, and Todd Brown received the 2013 Best Paper Presented at the Annual Meeting award for their paper Dual-well 3D VSP in deepwater made possible by DAS.[1] Albena A. Mateeva and Andrey Bakulin received the 2008 Best Paper Presented at the Annual Meeting award for their paper Estimating interval shear-wave splitting from multicomponent virtual shear checkshots.[2] Albena Mateeva joined Shell three years ago after earning an M.Sc. in physics from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, and a Ph.D. in geophysics from Colorado School of Mines (Center for Wave Phenomena). She is now working on virtual-source technology. Her research interests include inversion theory, signal processing, multiple scattering, and attenuation estimation.[3] Albena Alexandrova Mateeva, Andrey Bakulin, Dr. Rodney W. Calvert, and Patsy R.
