This paper studies the technical and economic viability of this EOR technique in Eagle Ford shale reservoirs using natural gas injection, generally after some period of primary depletion, typically through long, hydraulically fractured horizontal-reach wells. This one-day training event introduces completion, production, surveillance and reservoir engineers to the design of fiber-optic DTS (distributed temperature sensing) and DAS (distributed acoustic sensing) well installations. A basic understanding of the principles and benefits of DTS, DAS and surveillance monitoring technology, in general, is assumed. This course provides both an overview of water management and an in-depth look at critical issues related to sourcing (acquiring), reusing, recycling, and disposing of water in hydraulic fracturing operations. The course starts with a background of hydraulic fracturing operations and the different plays around North America. Options being used for transport, storage, reuse, and disposal are described for each of the different regions.
Earthquakes caused by hydraulic fracturing are more common in the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas than previously thought, a new study reveals. Stanford researchers have mapped local susceptibility to man-made earthquakes in Oklahoma and Kansas. The new model incorporates physical properties of the Earth’s subsurface and forecasts a decline in potentially damaging shaking through 2020. Oklahoma regulators forced an oil and gas producer to reduce operations on a well used for disposing salt water following a large earthquake that set off a series of seismic activity in the state. Oklahoma is tightening its rules for hydraulic fracturing after studying a new cluster of earthquakes in one of the hottest US regions for drilling.

After a planned acquisition of Goodnight fell through, private equity firm Tailwater Capital is boosting its total investment in the water midstream company to more than $500 million.
