In the current Oil & Gas and Maritime markets the need for more efficient methods of obtaining data is paramount. 3D visualization technologies have myriad benefits associated with reducing operating expenditure (OPEX), improving safety through providing alternative means of accessing otherwise difficult to access or confined spaces, and can provide the operator the option to avoid or remove risks entirely, such as removing the need for working at height. This paper presents the current state of the art for 3D visualization and data acquisition applicable to offshore platforms and marine structures & vessels.
