Importance of the Hygienic Measuring of Levels of Exposure to Benzene and Its Derivatives in Production Activities, Focused on Preventing Occupational Diseases (in Spanish) - SPE Energy Stream

SPE Energy Stream

This presentation in Spanish (slides in English) is from the 2020 SPE Latin American and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference. Our archived 2020-21 event content is now available free to SPE members! Since exposure to Volatile Organic Vapors produces serious short- and long-term neurotoxic and hematological effects in individuals, this work focuses on reducing both the incidence and prevalence of occupational diseases associated with exposure to organic vapors by implementing prevention programs. Hygienic measurements are made periodically, the results of which are essential for establishing guidelines for the different controls, thus eliminating or substantially reducing exposure. This study was conducted at different petroleum production fields in the Llanos Orientales basin in Colombia.
