By understanding key reservoir characteristics, it is possible to better predict fluid flow and the ultimate recovery of the reservoir. Reservoir surveillance is one of the key elements of reservoir management, which aims to develop a consistent depletion plan. Advancement in surveillance technology and creative ways of utilising existing tools and techniques should improve reservoir management techniques such as commingling production for several layers, performing water and gas injection, and defining the bypassed hydrocarbon area.
