Digital technologies serve as a primary theme of this year’s group, with a few environmentally conscious firms included in the mix. The biennial SPE Offshore Europe conference will explore a diverse set of topics, including the application of digital technologies and preparing for a low-carbon energy future and ongoing work around standardization and decommissioning. Malaysia’s Petronas, Shell Malaysia, and Thailand’s PTTEP are now in the midst of full-scale digital adoption. The companies are beginning to see results, but none is counting on a “big bang” in development of the technology soon. Some 3,000 people and counting intrigued by UK oil and gas data have signed up for access to the country’s new National Data Repository.
