The SEG Wiki's main mission is to supply scientific materials to the geoscience community and the public through online books, tutorials, geoscience articles, and biographies of key geoscientists. SEG's two best-selling books are provided open and free of charge on the SEG Wiki: Encyclopedic Dictionary of Applied Geophysics and Seismic Data Analysis. The Knowledge tree is the gateway to a collection of scientific, mathematic, geophysical, and geological information for the student and professional. In addition, bi-monthly geophysical tutorials published in The Leading Edge are made available on the wiki. The wiki captures the history of the exploration geophysics discipline through hundreds of biographies that also highlights important contributions from the founding members of SEG and women in geoscience.

The following are tests of the extensions running on the wiki. Where applicable, if the "Test" value matches the "Expected" value, the extension can be assumed to be working. The ext.CookieWarning ResourceLoader module should be registered; in the developer console running mw.loader.getState('ext.CookieWarning'); should return a string (rather than null). The ext.dismissableSiteNotice ResourceLoader module should be registered; in the developer console running mw.loader.getState('ext.dismissableSiteNotice'); The extension must be listed on Special:Version.

The principal objective is at 3000 m with a stacking velocity of 3000 m/s. What frequencies should be covered by a linear sweep? The vibroseis method employs a vibrator to impart to the ground a long train of harmonic signals of varying frequency. The vibrator consists of a piston pressing against a steel plate which is held against the ground by the weight of the vehicle. For the usual linear sweep, the vibrator, which is actuated hydraulically, exerts a pressure Failed to parse (SVG with PNG fallback (MathML can be enabled via browser plugin): Invalid response ("Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.")

Embracing a mission of connecting the world of applied geophysics, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) is a not-for-profit organization supporting more than 11,000 members from 126 countries. SEG's long-standing tradition of excellence in education, professional development, new business generation, and engagement cultivates a unique community platform that encourages collaboration and thought leadership for the advancement of geophysical science around the world. Headquartered in Houston, TX, SEG has a business office in Tulsa, OK and regional offices in Dubai, UAE and Beijing, China. SEG is a global society that fosters the expert and ethical practice of geophysics in the exploration and development of natural resources, in characterizing the near-surface, and in mitigating earth hazards by inspiring the geophysicists of today and tomorrow.

Lisa Gavin is a geophysicist with academic and industry experience in the oil and gas industry. She has worked as a geophysicist at Fugro Seismic Imaging, Chevron, and is currently at Woodside Energy in Perth, Australia. She has interests in seismic anisotropy, quantitative interpretation, 4D seismic, and rock physics. Lisa completed a BSc with first class honors in Geophysics from Curtin University. She then joined the Centre for Energy Geoscience - CEG (formerly Centre for Petroleum Geoscience and CO2 Sequestration – CPGCO2) at the University of Western Australia (UWA) to complete a PhD in geophysics.
