Phase 1 production from the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico field is expected to reach 30,000 BOPD. The field contains an estimated 5 billion bbl of oil in place. With McDermott announcing “substantial completion” of the production platform, operator Pemex is expected to begin commercial operations soon. Abkatun-A2 will produce up to 220,000 BOPD from shallow-water fields in the Gulf of Mexico. The deal covers the installation of a pair of rigid flowlines for the shallow heavy oil field, Pemex’s largest discovery to date. Work is expected to be completed early next year.
