Chord Energy Snaps Up Williston Basin Assets for 375 Million

While the M&A spotlight continues to shine on the prolific Permian Basin sprawled across western Texas and southeastern New Mexico, the Williston Basin of Montana and the Dakotas shimmers with consolidation opportunities as shale producers look to add more reserves to their inventory. US-independent Chord Energy recently announced the acquisition of about 62,000 net acres in the Williston Basin from XTO Energy for total cash consideration of 375 million. "The acquired assets are an excellent strategic and operational fit to Chord's premier Williston Basin acreage position," said Danny Brown, Chord's president and chief executive. "These low-cost, tier-one assets are highly competitive with our existing portfolio and further extend our inventory runway. Consolidation in the core of the basin supports longer laterals, higher capital, and operating efficiencies, strong financial returns, and sustainable free cash flow generation."

Ipieca Launches Online Labor Rights Training

Ipieca has published its free online labor rights training. Developed with the contribution of Building Responsibly and hosted on the Supply Chain Sustainability School's e-learning platform, the training consists of 12 modules which aim to improve awareness of labor rights issues among those responsible for working conditions and labor practices, so that they can better recognize problems and address them appropriately. The training includes modules on child labor, fair recruitment, wages, worker representation and engagement, working hours and overtime, nondiscrimination and equal opportunities, worker accommodation, procurement, worker grievance mechanisms, and forced labor. Each module includes introductory text, videos, case studies, a one-pager of key lessons, and quiz questions to test understanding. Links to relevant additional resources and Ipieca guidance are also included in the modules.

'Accelerate Recent Momentum': Talos Energy Sells Stake in Zama Field

US independent Talos Energy said on 25 May it has sold a minority stake in its Mexican subsidiary to a unit of Mexico's Grupo Carso for 124.75 million. The subsidiary holds the company's 17.4% stake in the planned Zama field development offshore Mexico. "As we accelerate recent momentum and advance Zama toward FID and first production, we are confident that Carso is the right partner at the right time," said Talos chief executive Timothy Duncan. The acquisition, which is subject to the approval of Mexican regulators, is expected to close in the third quarter. The purchase price of 124.75 million for the 49.9% stake, implies a minimum valuation of approximately 250.0 million for the full 17.4% stake in Zama, potentially increasing to 262.50 million if certain milestones are reached, according to Talos.

Shell Taps TechnipFMC for Dover Project

UK-based TechnipFMC was awarded an integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract for Shell's Dover field development in the US Gulf of Mexico (GOM). TechnipFMC said it will supply the subsea tree systems in addition to the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the umbilical, riser, and flowline systems. The company described the contract as significant, with a value between 75 million and 250 million. "Dover represents a continuation of our decades-long relationship with Shell. We look forward to helping extend production in this prolific basin," said Jonathan Landes, president, subsea at TechnipFMC.
