This article highlights interesting applications of machine learning in the oil and gas industry in drilling, formation evaluation, and reservoir engineering. Each project uses a data-driven model to solve a previously complex problem using machine learning to augment an existing solution. Graham Hack shares his experience working for a large and a small E&P company and discusses how the role of young professionals can differ in these companies. This article presents three important R&D realms that demonstrate good collaborative efforts between independents and academic research institutions. Three women working in R&D offer perspectives on their work, why they joined that branch of the industry, what projects they work on, and what keeps them challenged.
SPE’s Annual Caspian Technical Conference is going Virtual! SPE’s Annual Caspian Technical Conference is going Virtual! Every industry faces pressure to transform and remain competitive. These pressures may take the form of economic factors (low oil price, overcrowded market, low demand, inefficiencies) and others may include unusual or once in a lifetime occurrences, such as the current global pandemic. With increased competition, we must look for ways to differentiate our products and services. The good news is that tough competition is one of the best motivations to innovate which in turn has a positive effect of allowing us to produce more and offer lower prices. During these challenging times it has never been more important to keep the Caspian oil and gas industry connected.

Currently, SPE and the SPE sections have to abide by the SPE Events Policies, last amended and approved in March 2007. This Event Naming policy is an amendment to the existing Events Policies. This amendment provides better clarity and additional requirements so that it will be better understood and followed by both SPE Staff and sections. This Event Naming policy is written as a service to our membership to ensure consistency and quality in our SPE branded events.

Whether they plan to publish a shortened version or the full paper, the process is the same. If your paper is currently being peer-reviewed by any SPE journal, you can contact firstname.lastname@example.org You should then locate the paper in OnePetro and follow the link "Rights & Permission".
