Abstract The demand for subsea projects adopting steel risers in Petrobras have increased in the last years. In parallel, new frontiers in ultra-deep waters offshore Brazil are emerging, beyond the pre-salt of Santos Basin, bringing new challenges to the conception of subsea systems and riser designs. This paper aims to present relevant solutions and new strategies that have been used by Petrobras in the development of standardized SLWR (Steel Lazy Wave Riser) designs that endure the entire production life of typical subsea projects.
