ABSTRACT All six Coastal Districts of Western Region are potentially involved in Oil and Gas industry and virtually prone to possible impacts. With this in mind and to secure a "moment zero" snapshot of the area, eni Ghana decided to carry out a Social, Health and Environmental Baseline Survey. The survey was assigned to the University of Cape Coast - Department of Social Sciences and delivered on 2011. Moreover, with the scope of identifying the most pressing needs in two of the Coastal Districts, i.e., Ellembelle and Jomoro, a Rapid Appraisal was also carried out involving local Authorities and Communities. Therefore, in close coordination with Local Assemblies and District Health Authorities and in line with their Multiyear Plan, two main priority areas where selected in the two districts. In consideration of the Public Health Needs identified, the parties agreed that the Community Health Planning Service (CHPS) Strategy of the MoH (ref.) could represent the most suitable approach to cope up in effective and efficient way with the unmatched health service demand. In this regard the construction/set up of 2 CHPS compounds was implemented in the two selected areas and preventive public health activities were supported as well to boost the strategy impact on local epidemiology.

ABSTRACT Within the HSE IMS Integrated Management System eni e&p Division has developed its Health standards and systems which provide a common framework to take care of the hosting community health. The company approach ensure the effective management of Community Health and Infrastructure Projects aimed to improving local health status and living condition by supporting local Authorities in addressing unmatched Health Service Demand by strengthening local Health System in line with the principles of Primary Health Care. Also it is in line with the Paris Declaration the CHIPM process ensures that local and national partners can exercise effective leadership over the implementation of their policies and strategies and co-ordinate development actions (ownership) through a peer to peer dialogue with donors, the private sector and other stakeholders. The process is not intended to prescribe funding levels or recommend funding mechanisms, but to support national and local development strategies, institutions and procedures (alignment). The challenge for companies is how to integrate economic, social, health and environmentalconsiderations into decision making so as to create added value in the conduct of daily activities. This management structure serves as basis and foundation to integrate relevant and priority health projects and provides common ground for both parties to work in consonance.

ABSTRACT: Fitness to work assessments are an essential part of health risk management, they enable a health practitioner to establish whether an employee's medical condition is likely to affect their fitness to work. The starting point for evaluating the needs and content of fitness to work assessments is the Health Risk Assessment process. HRA systematically identifies, assesses and controls any risks to health. As a result of the Health Risk Assessment, it will become apparent whether health parameters associated with the employee (e.g. medical disorders, diseases, or physical fitness) cause a health or safety hazard that is deemed unacceptable. If this occurs, medical screening may be necessary in order to exclude certain employees because of a particular health parameter. In addition, in certain locations (e.g. offshore, remote sites) the medical emergency response may be insufficient as there may be unacceptable delays in reaching an appropriate level of medical care. In these circumstances, medical screening to reduce the probability of a medical emergency requiring medical evacuation will be necessary. The aim of an individual fitness to work assessment is to determine the fitness of a person to perform a specific task or to live within certain conditions. Taking in consideration the above mentioned definitions and elements; Eni E&P has created standards to develop the health risk assessment and the fitness to work. The purpose of the paper is to show the way is structured and inserted the fitness to work procedure in the Eni E&P-HMS as a centre of the proces
