Africa (Sub-Sahara) United Hydrocarbon International finished drilling the Belanga North-1 exploration well located in Doba basin in southern Chad. The well was drilled to a total depth of 1392 m, and encountered three oil-bearing sand intervals--two in the targeted Upper Cretaceous "YO" sands and one in an untested shallower sand. United Hydrocarbon (100%) is the operator. Asia Pacific China National Offshore Oil Corporation discovered natural gas in the Qiongdongan basin, South China Sea. Well Lingshui 17-2--located in the east Lingshui sag portion of the basin at an average water depth of 1450 m--was drilled and completed to a depth of 3510 m. Lingshui 17-2 encountered a gas reservoir with a total thickness of approximately 55 m. Statoil Australia Theta has drilled and completed the Oz-Alpha 1 exploration well in the southern Georgina basin in the Northern Territory, Australia.
The North Caspian Project in Kazakhstan covers the Kashagan, Kairan, Aktoty, and Kashagan South West fields. Petrofac’s well management contract comes nearly a month after IOG received approval for phase 1. The contract also follows an EPC contract awarded to Subsea 7 in May. The two companies worked together in 2019 to improve execution techniques where Petrofac digitalized maintenance and inspection activity. The contracts were awarded in February.
The 18-month contract is for work in the Al-Nasiriyah oil field in southern Iraq’s Dhi Qar province. The oilfield services company's Tubular Running Service was recognized for reducing costs, maximizing safety. The E&P sector has maintained a strong focus on capital discipline during its recovery from the 2014 oil price downturn, as investors look for companies to generate free cash flow to help pay down debt. How will this focus affect sector growth in the near term? These most recent deals bring the services company's divestiture total to $1 billion over the past 1 1/2 years.
Africa (Sub-Sahara) Sonangol's deepwater Orca-1 well encountered oil in the presalt layer of Block 20/11 in the Cuanza basin offshore Angola. The well reached a measured depth of 12,703 ft. Initial well tests saw flow rates of 16.3 MMcm/D of gas and 3,700 BOPD. Cobalt International Energy (40%) is the operator, with partners Sonangol Research and Production (30%) and BP Exploration Angola (30%). Asia Pacific Premier Oil's Kuda Laut-1 well in Indonesia's Tuna production sharing contract has encountered 183 net ft of oil-bearing reservoir and 327 net ft of gas-bearing reservoir. Following evaluation operations, the well will be sidetracked to drill the Singa Laut prospect in an adjacent fault block. Premier is the operator (65%), with partner Mitsui Oil Exploration Company (35%).
The Mozambique LNG project expects to achieve financial close in Q3. The W-Industries contract comes 2 months after Worley was awarded a master service agreement for services on the Mozambique LNG project. Proposal requests were sent to companies to solicit partnerships for the project with ADNOC and ADPower. The Eni-operated project will be the first FLNG vessel deployed in a deepwater field offshore the African continent upon its projected 2022 startup.
For the seventh straight year, the regulatory body has found offshore operations continue to improve based on an efficiency model developed in partnership with the SPE. One of the largest industrial projects in the UK in recent years, Mariner marks Equinor’s first operated field on the UK Continental Shelf. It is expected to produce 70,000 BOPD at peak rates. The $635-million deal sees Oman-based Petrogas and Norwegian private equity company HitecVision acquire a package of non-core North Sea assets, including 100% ownership stake in four fields. One of the largest pre-sanction fields on the UK Continental Shelf, Rosebank, could significantly bolster the company’s UK portfolio.
The software solution aims to improve operational efficiency and production from subsurface to processing facilities in four offshore fields. The aerospace giant is launching a new business unit to cash in on the autonomous aviation market. It will act as a systems integrator for all Honeywell products and services that could be used in this industry. ADNOC will utilize Honeywell’s asset monitoring and predictive analytics platform to improve asset efficiency and integrity across the operator’s upstream and downstream businesses. This digital deal is helping to make augmented reality a new reality for oil and gas operations.
Africa (Sub-Sahara) Sahara Group discovered hydrocarbons in three wells drilled in Block OPL 274, located onshore in Nigeria's Edo State. Olugei-1 was drilled to a measured depth of 4537 m and encountered five hydrocarbon zones, with 33 m of net pay. Oki-Oziengbe South 4 was drilled to a measured depth of 3816 m and encountered 64.3 m of net pay in 13 hydrocarbon-bearing zones. Oki-Oziengbe South 5 was drilled to a measured depth of 3923 m and encountered 91 m of net pay in 19 reservoirs. Sahara Group (100%) is the operator. Asia Pacific Sino Gas & Energy Holdings (SGE) flowed gas (coalbed methane) from its first horizontal well in the Linxing production sharing contract (PSC) in China's Shanxi province.
The FEED contract is expected to be converted into an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract in Q1 2021. CB&I Storage Solutions joins a list of contractors working on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project. McDermott’s restructuring comes 5 months after it filed for Chapter 11 protection. The company was struggling with debt since its 2018 acquisition of CB&I. McDermott’s completion comes 19 months after it was first awarded.
Africa (Sub-Sahara) Oil samples have been recovered in the FAN-1 exploration well, being drilled offshore Senegal. Elevated gas and fluorescence were encountered in a shallow secondary target, and the presence of oil was confirmed by an intermediate logging program. Oil samples from thin sand were collected by a wireline formation tester for further analysis. The well will be deepened to a planned total depth of approximately 5000 m.
