There are different definitions of what is Well Integrity. The most widely accepted definition is given by NORSOK D-010: "Application of technical, operational and organizational solutions to reduce risk of uncontrolled release of formation fluids throughout the life cycle of a well."[1] Other accepted definition is given by ISO TS 16530-2 "Containment and the prevention of the escape of fluids (i.e. Well Integrity is a multidisciplinary approach. Therefore, well integrity engineers need to interact constantly with different disciplines to assess the status of well barriers and well barrier envelopes at all times.

SPE Russia and Caspian Region is the one of many SPE geographical regions in the world. Theregion consist of 23 professional sections and 37 student chapters with more than 2,000 professional members and more than 5,000 student members from from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. At the end of 2006, the SPE had 627 professional members in Russia and 414 student members, with 6 professional sections and 10 university chapters. Taking into account the leading position and vigorous development of Russia and Caspian region in the oil and gas industry, on October 1st, 2007 SPE decided to open the representative office in Moscow.[3] A little later, in 2008 Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan were set apart as the separate region - SPE Russia and Caspian.

Although many measurements are taken while fracturing, the term MWF refers to nonintrusive measurements taken on surface without fracturing operations interruption. MWF is characterized by enhanced event detectability and higher reflection depth determination accuracy. These are achieved by a combination of advanced signal processing algorithms and a tube wave velocity model based on Bayesian statistics, where each new signal is used as posterior information for decreasing uncertainty. Hammer union pressure transmitter with full scale pressure range (0 - 20K psi) is used to conduct measurements of pressure at wellhead. Device supports transfer of high-frequency pressure data from transmitter to monitoring software.

Welcome to PetroWiki Wiki, powered by SPE membership with all things related to the petroleum industry. In 1859, Col. Edwin Drake drilled and completed the first known oil well near a small town in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. This well, which was drilled with cable tools, started the modern petroleum industry. In 1897, near Summerland, California, U.S.A., H.L. Williams extended an offshore oil field into the Santa Barbara Channel by drilling a submarine well from a pier. This first offshore well was drilled just 38 years after Col. Drake's well.

The Drake Well is a 69.5-foot-deep (21.2 m) oil well in Cherrytree Township, Venango County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, the success of which sparked the first oil boom in the United States. The well is the centerpiece of the Drake Well Museum located 3 miles (5 km) south of Titusville.[1] Drilled by Edwin Drake in 1859, along the banks of Oil Creek, it is the first commercial oil well in the United States. Drake Well was listed on National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. It was designated a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark in 1979.

The most important data for designing a fracture treatment are the in-situ stress profile, formation permeability, fluid-loss characteristics, total fluid volume pumped, propping agent type and amount, pad volume, fracture-fluid viscosity, injection rate, and formation modulus. It is very important to quantify the in-situ stress profile and the permeability profile of the zone to be stimulated, plus the layers of rock above and below the target zone that will influence fracture height growth. There is a structured method that should be followed to design, optimize, execute, evaluate, and reoptimize the fracture treatments in any reservoir. The first step is always the construction of a complete and accurate data set.Table 1 lists the sources for the data required to run fracture propagation and reservoir models. The design engineer must be capable of analyzing logs, cores, production data, and well-test data and be capable of digging through well files to obtain all the information needed to design and evaluate the well that is to be hydraulically fracture treated.
