Abstract This paper discusses the integrated interpretation of well log data collected in horizontal production (injection) wells with low flow rates and non-uniform inflow (injectivity) profiles. A factor analysis is performed and information value of these methods in horizontal wells is defined.
Abstract A difficult condition of field development requires the search for new methods and techniques for more comercial production. There is active development and introduction of new technologies in the field of geophysical monitoring technologies in recent years. When the well inflow is a multi-phase one, or is low and unstable, the flow metering data tends to be of no particular value for evaluation of pay potential of a formation. Thus, some alternative evaluation methods become increasingly required. According to field data analysis, temperature log appears to be the most efficient geophysical survey in a setting discussed. The report looks into capabilities of temperature log and the scope of its applicability to quantitative evaluation of production from formations that are only able to provide some low and unstable multi-phase inflow. The report describes the method of evaluating well production outside inflow intervals in case of a cycling operating pattern or when the well operating mode is changed, and thus geothermal temperature distribution can not be used as background data. Examples include well test results obtained on fields of different types (terrigenous, carbonate) with different saturation of reservoirs when they were opened by a vertical well and by a horizontal well.

Abstract Paper presents production logging (PL) problems in tight comingled reservoirs. Quantitative evaluation is possible when PL is done with JET pump or ESP & T-tool or naturally flowing wells. Authors have made series of numerical simulations to determine temperature distribution in producers and optimize production logging and interpretation procedure. Simulation illustrates traditional temperature interpretation technique with comparing well temperature logging curve with geothermal gradient is useless in case of tight reservoirs due to high influence of previous production and unstable flow. New way can handle that problem. New way of temperature interpretation to individual evaluation of tight comingled reservoirs can be used even in difficult for traditional temperature logging cases: horizontal wells, inflow control valves (ICV) presence in the wellbore, etc. Author’s method is based on mathematical simulation and on production logging case studies. In high rate producers temperature logging were compared with spinner and results were the same. Technology implementation on comingled wells of Western Siberia oil fields gives each formation rate and pressure. That results in production and injection optimization to increase sweep efficiency and recovery.
