ADNOC and CNOOC will explore multiple new opportunities for collaboration across the upstream and downstream sectors in the UAE and China. Engineering ways to deliver more gas to consumers presents both huge opportunities and lots of challenges. Hisham Saadawi, SPE technical director of production and facilities, offers some examples as part of JPT’s tech director report.
The E&P company said that a reduction in its interests for projects off the coast of the West African nations should still happen by the end of this year. This includes the large Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project, which is set to start up in 2022. With a $100-million investment and submittal of its offshore Pecan field development plan to Ghana authorities, Aker Energy continues its positioning for an IPO later this year. Driven by Mozambique’s Area 1 and Area 4 projects, Africa is poised to become the dominant LNG investment destination by the end of this year, with the continent seeing nearly one-third of total greenfield investment. The SPAs signed with Shell and Tokyo Gas take Anadarko’s long-term sales from the project to more than 7.5 mtpa, with additional deals expected in the near future.
ADNOC and CNOOC will explore multiple new opportunities for collaboration across the upstream and downstream sectors in the UAE and China. The deal calls for CNOOC to get 1.5 mtpa of gas from the Anadarko-operated Mozambique LNG project over the next 13 years. The project is the first onshore LNG development for the coastal East African nation. The Hess-operated field, which drew first oil in January, is expected to produce 80,000 BOPD as production ramps up this year.
ADNOC and CNOOC will explore multiple new opportunities for collaboration across the upstream and downstream sectors in the UAE and China. The blockchain-based automated system pilot is expected to integrate oil and gas production, providing a platform for the tracking, validating, and execution of transactions at every stage of the project life cycle. The agreement calls for the two companies to partner on techno-economic feasibility studies and jointly assess investment opportunities across the LNG value chain.
ADNOC and CNOOC will explore multiple new opportunities for collaboration across the upstream and downstream sectors in the UAE and China. The laboratory will be used primarily to test the sulfide stress cracking resistance of carbon steel alloys for oil wells and offshore drilling applications. The paper discusses the main factors affecting CO2 corrosion, provides an assessment of what to look for in major equipment, and details recommended material of construction and corrosion mitigation/control methods. This paper focuses on a numerical-modeling analysis of the acid-gas-injection (AGI) scenario in carbonate HP/HT reservoirs, and presents the way in which AGI impacts asphaltene-precipitation behavior. When panels in an instrument equipment shelter kept tripping and the occasional smell of H2S led to an investigation of the rationale.
Leaders from UK’s Oil and Gas Authority, Total, CNOOC, and Equinor discuss exploration successes, misses, and expectations for the offshore UK. Conventional oil and gas discovered resources in 2019 are on pace to rise 30% from last year and reach their highest level since the beginning of the industry downturn. Here, a recap of the first quarter's 15 biggest oil and gas discoveries, which altogether are propelling the increase. The state-run offshore company has found a gas and condensate field that holds an estimated 250 million BOE. The national oil company’s aim to lift oil and gas production and reserves over the next few years will rely on growth from big international projects, including those in Nigeria, Guyana, and the US.
Africa (Sub-Sahara) San Leon Energy reported encouraging performance from its OML 18 field in Nigeria. Reperforation of an oil well increased gross field production to approximately 61,000 B/D before output was temporarily scaled back to 53,000 B/D for a shut-in, upgrade, and workover of the well. A number of other field wells will be reperforated in coming months, the company said. San Leon holds a 9.72% interest in the field, which is operated by Eroton (35%). Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. holds the remaining stake. FAR said that drilling has begun on the SNE-5 appraisal well offshore Senegal. The well and the following SNE-6 well will evaluate the upper SNE reservoir units' connectivity and deliverability by oil flow testing that will include interference tests.
Africa (Sub-Sahara) Eni successfully completed a new production well in the Vandumbu field, 350 km northwest of Luanda and 130 km west of Soyo, in the West Hub of Block 15/06 offshore Angola. The VAN-102 well is being produced through the N'Goma FPSO and achieved initial production of 13,000 BOED. Production from this well and another well in the Mpungi field will bring Block 15/06 output to 170,000 BOED. Anglo African Oil & Gas encountered oil at the TLP-103C well at its Tilapia license offshore the Republic of Congo. The well intersected the targeted Djeno horizon, and wireline logging confirmed the presence of a 12-m oil column in the Djeno. Total started production from the ultra-deepwater Egina field in approximately 1600 m of water 150 km off the coast of Nigeria. At plateau, the field will produce 200,000 B/D.
Mozambique LNG1, a sales entity jointly owned by co-venturers in the Mozambique Offshore Area 1, has signed a sale and purchase agreement with CNOOC Gas and Power Singapore. Area 1 operator Anadarko said the agreement covers a supply of 1.5 mtpa over a 13-year term. Mozambique LNG will be the country’s first onshore LNG development. The facility will be equipped with two LNG trains with a total nameplate capacity of 12.88 mtpa to support the development of the Golfinho/Atum fields, which are located entirely within Offshore Area 1. Approximately 75 Tcf of recoverable natural gas has been discovered in Offshore Area 1, the equivalent of 12 billion bbl of oil.
The Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporaiton (CNOOC) has discovered a gas and condensate reservoir at the state-owned company’s Gelngorm prospect in the UK North Sea. The resource, located 118 miles east of Aberdeen, is estimated to hold close to 250 million bbl BOE. CNOOC tapped the reservoir in a water depth of 282 ft with a jackup rig. Total depth of the exploration well was just over 16,500 ft and gas and condensate pay zones were found with a thickness of 123 ft. The company had previously tried and failed to drill two prospect wells in 2017.
